FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Business Partner Moves to Hardware Platform to IBMClient moves from HP Pro200 to IBM NetFinity 5100 with 57 usersELMA, NY - 01/08/01 -- This partner is a 57 user, version 4.0 Pro:Man site. They were on a D3/NT, HP servers when corporate advised that IBM was the new choice of hardware platforms. They already have switched the local servers at their site which include two NetFinity 7100 NT document servers, another 5100 "services" server. The new NetFinity has 512 Megs of Ram, a Raid 5 disk array with a total of 60 Gigs of data storage. The back up choice is a Sony SDT 9000 DDS-3 external SCSI tape drive. The unit has two Digi EM16 concentrators (used for IBM3151 labor collection stations, and a FaxLink server connection). The move from the HP server to an IBM occurred on a Saturday afternoon and evening. The old server was backed up to a psuedo floppy. The file was then copied across the network, into a new domain, to the new server. A psuedo was then set up to the new server and the accounts restored, in both the VME and FSI. All of the printers defined are now NT printers with the exception of the FaxLink printer. Some to these printers are defined on Jetdirect cards and others are printers defined on the "services" server. This was all seamlessly accomplished with the client not losing any down time on the shop floor or front end.
